For the first time in Cambodia, an authentic Italian opera is to be produced. Pietro Mascagni’s masterpiece, the magnificent " Cavalleria Rusticana " (Rustic Chivalry), a passionate tale of seduction, jealousy, unrequited love and revenge, will be performed in Sofitel Hotel on 29th September 2018. An operatic blockbuster since its 1890 debut in Rome, “Cavalleria” is famous for its rousing overture and its sublime intermezzo.

Mr. Khuon Sethisak, the pioneer Cambodian opera singer, Japanese opera singer Ms. Ai Iwasaki, who initiated the project, and other internationally renowned Japanese singers, will take the stage. Under the patronage of HRH Prince Ravivaddhana Monipong Sisowath and the direction of Sig. Vincenzo Grisostomi, they aim to establish a combined Japanese/Cambodian opera company and orchestra here, in an effort to help raise the standards of classical music and performing arts in Cambodia.
